Guest access
Guests enjoy exclusive access to the main castle and its grounds, including all living areas, bedrooms, and amenities described. For operational purposes, two separate areas - the adjoining gatehouse and a private floor in the tower - are not part of the guest accommodation. These discreet spaces ensure the castle remains fully at your disposal during your stay, allowing you to experience the magic of having a castle all to yourself.
Other things to note
Please note, this is no ordinary hotel experience - housed within a very old listed building, we take great care to preserve the integrity of its rich heritage.
Unlike the polished perfection of a Hilton, our castle retreat embraces its age with open arms. Expect to discover hidden nooks and crannies, along with charming quirks that add to its unique character and allure.
From the exposed stone windows to the single-glazed panes, every inch of our building tells a story. You'll find parts where the building's original features are lovingly exposed, offering a peek into its fascinating past.
But don't worry – it's these imperfections that enhance the charm and character of our fairytale abode. After all, who would want a castle experience with double glazing and clinical perfection? Embrace the authenticity and immerse yourself in the magical surroundings

Annie8 years on Airbnbhttps://a0.muscache.com/im/pictures/user/e613cf4e-fb12-4f56-b27f-5e3eeca3da92.jpg?im_w=2403January 2025Location was beautiful & the building is beautiful but in need of repairs. We paid a lot to stay here over new years& the ceiling leaked in several rooms on our last night (leaked onto my nephews bed making him wet &cold) In the living room there are windows with panels of glass missing so obviously drafty& let in rain. In the bedrooms none of the windows were allowed to be opened (as per the house rules) & leaked and didn't shut properly anyway. Central heating was off when we arrived & complicated to find & switch on. Even with the heating on the house was very cold! I expected it to be cold as it's a big building but it was freezing-I slept in thermals, pjs and a dressing gown. The host charged us £75 for logs, 50% were just sticks, they were all wet as left outside so didn't burn well. Buy your own logs, much cheaper & better quality. Towels cost extra & no hand towels in bathrooms. Overall the stay was uncomfortable, not that welcoming, probs not suitable for young kids as so coldJoanJanuary 2025Im sorry to read that you had some disappointment in your stay over new year and that there was a leak in the centre bedroom. The chimney above that did not withstand the weather has in fact had the repairs done. Unfortunately, in extreme conditions it seems the heavy rain is still driven inside if the wind is wild enough. My apologies for that. The bay in the sitting room has also had its repair done with the flat roof above re- lined in the summer, we will look again to find its weak spot.Fortunately, these were not severe leaks, as there was no damage and no water in the vessels you had put in place. My thanks for coping with the situation and I apologise for any upset, especially to the child rudely awakened.Yes, some of the original painted stained glass squares are in poor condition and we do request guests to leave bedroom windows as found…..some of your complaints are the perils of choosing a historic property, perhaps midwinter is not the wisest choice in this case. The cost of central heating for your four night stay is £75 per night.I do hope some of the heat circulated. The log supply is bought in for you, so that you burn seasoned oak, some logs were put inside for you and various baskets of kindling and thinner wood , also supplied for you so you can build a decent fire, were left in a stone archway, nothing was outside in the wet.I hope you enjoyed other aspects of your stay and you and your family enjoyed your celebration. Im sure that’s what we all wish for.Best, Joan
