The space
Braylsham Castle Features:-
Three x En-Suite Bedrooms: boasting breathtaking views of the castle turrets, forests, cascading waterfall and tranquil moat.
Great Hall & Musicians' Gallery: An extraordinary and spacious venue perfect for banquets, weddings, events, and intimate dinner parties up to 25 seated guests (contact us for additional guest enquiries).
Tower kitchenette: equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, Air fryer (9 Litres), kettle, toaster and complimentary tea, coffee, milk and biscuits.
Cozy Fireplaces: Logs are provided for both fireplaces for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere during your stay.
For larger groups: 2 x additional en-suite bedrooms are available on the top floor in the “Servants’ Quarters”.
One belongs to Laura and the other our groundsman Tony. Please enquire for availability in advance.
Glamping Experience: In the warmer months, indulge in a unique "glamping" experience with bell tents equipped with mattresses, duvets, and pillows – everything you need for a cozy night under the stars.
BBQ by the Lake: Enjoy outdoor seating for barbecues and picnics, with a picturesque view of the lake and surrounding landscape.

Guest access
You can access all areas except the “Servant’s Quarters” (clearly signed).
No other bookings take place during your stay.
You will have complete privacy in your areas; so play music and dance to your heart’s content in our Great Hall.
You will be greeted by my Guardian Angel, Laura, Braylsham Castle’s events manager. She is an entrepreneur who lives on the top floor but usually vacates after checking guests in. Laura’s room is sometimes available to rent if guests require additional rooms.
You will have privacy to enjoy your stay; and peace of mind that help is on hand if required.
Other things to note
If you are planning a party, photoshoot, wedding or event; please book via Castle Rentals Network.
Airbnb is for small groups (up to 8) staying overnight, no other guests are permitted unless agreed in advance with Laura.
You will need a car or taxi to reach us. If you need collecting from a train station please ask in advance. Our precise location will be shared upon booking.
We have a Smart TV with Fire Stick inc Netflix and a DVD (and VHS player!) with an array of child-friendly films.
Bring your own food, use our bbq (weather permitting) or dine out locally. See our guidebook for details.
If you want to use our Aga or cooking facilities please arrange with Laura in advance.
We can also provide a cooked Breakfast served in the Great Hall, tailored to your favourite meat/veggie options. We will contact you after booking to arrange if of interest.

We were greeted on arrival by the lovely Laura who showed us around the beautiful place we would call home for the next couple of days. We also met the fascinating John who again made us feel very welcome in his wonderful home. It really is a stunning place to stay with its open fire places, grand hall, books, games, bbq, and peace and quiet, it really is a great escape. Can’t also forget the breakfast cooked for us by Laura which we had in the grand hall, set us up lovely for the day. We had a bbq both nights we were there sat by the moat which was lovely as well, then finished the days off with a bottle or two of wine in front of the fireplace. Honestly had a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thanks John and Laura for making us feel very welcome. | |||

The castle, beautifully crafted and full of character, sits in the middle of a pond, which adds to its enchanting atmosphere. The pictures do not do the castle justice at all. Completely idyllic. Laura greets you with a huge warm smile and then will show you all around the castle. Meeting John was a pleasure, what an interesting man. Very lovely people and hosts. Even though people live on site, it feels very private. The living room is so cosy. Dreamy comfortable bed. Waking up to the wildlife sounds and water trickling was heaven. Laura provided a smashing breakfast in the main hall. Felt no rush to check out. Also we went by reviews, had dinner at the Star Inn and just wow! We cannot stop thinking about the mussels and steak. Incredible food! Also not far from Lewes for antiques. If you want to experience some magic for a weekend this is such a special place to stay. It was a pleasure and thank you for such a special memory. Laura was very responsive and helpful and took care of us. She recommended the Cuckoo Trail walk and the Cuckoo Cafe which we very much enjoyed. We appreciated the peaceful surroundings and the novelty of eating in the Great Hall with the suit of armour, spotlighted portraits and even a bat! Because the Castle is in a secluded area it was beautiful to see the stars from the vantage point of a castle turret. It's a quirky place and great if you want something out of the ordinary. | |||

My partner and I stayed at Braylsham Castle with our dog for a 30th birthday celebration and it was spectacular! Laura was an incredible hostess and very responsive via messenger (even when I failed to respond- oops!) making sure we had the best stay, recommending local sights and places to eat. She began our visit by personally greeting us, then giving us a tour of the premises and getting us settled in. John was an absolute treasure and probably the most fascinating person I have ever met, such a plethora of knowledge and history that he’s willing to share with you. The venue is absolutely breathtaking and I am so excited to return back! | |||
