We booked the smaller wing and it was the perfect size for a group of friends with a sitting room with a TV for movies (firestick so you log in with an amazon account), dining room, lovely themed bedrooms, and a cozy kitchen. We were lucky enough to be the only guests at the property so we asked for a tour of the other wing and it too was better than the photos. The ensuite bathroom gets chilly, so definetly pack some slippers or cosy socks!

The surrounding property is gorgeous, we took several walks and were only there for two days. We slept like logs, the beds were incredibly comfortable and the rooms decorated pristinely. My daughter had such an amazing time she cried as we were leaving. Recommend immensely and will definitely return. | James | August 2024 | Ian and Michelle were the absolute best of guests. So glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again some day! |

The rooms are comfortable. Dining is beautiful. On the other hand, the kitchen could be better equipped to prepare a dinner.
Steve | Overland Park, Kansas | None | 5 | June 2024 | Well… it’s a castle. Anything else to say? I suppose so. the description sounded amazing, and the photos looked great. There’s always the lingering suspicion along the lines of “what’s the catch? Doesn’t it smell like old cheese?”; in this case, there’s no catch. Since it was just the three of us, we booked the smaller “east wing” of the castle. Two full bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a regal dining room hall, and a common/living room. the bedrooms are sort of themed; baroque on the ground floor and a bit more modern on the second. The dining hall is fabulous; lots of art on the walls, and an outstanding long dinner table. The grounds of the castle are fully accessible, including a modest rose garden, some other gardens, a few outdoor seating areas. Very nice way to spend an afternoon. The area is quite quiet; the adjoining village is small, although a larger one is nearby (maybe an 8min drive away), which will provide some groceries and a few restaurants.

Amy | Harvest, Alabama | None | 5 | May 2024 | We loved our stay at Lickleyhead castle. It was truly unique. James was a great host and very responsive. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer.
Laurel | Mississauga, Canada | None | 5 | August 2023 | We really enjoyed our stay at Lickleyhead Castle. The left wing apartment and gardens were very nice. It was great that James met us when we arrived and gave us a tour. We loved having a meal in the beautiful dining room. We enjoyed visiting Inverurie nearby. Thanks James!
Angela | Mount Airy, Maryland | None | 5 | June 2023 | Amazing!!! So much room for all of us, including two teen boys, to enjoy inside and out. The property is absolutely beautiful and peaceful with many birds. Great location with many castle's nearby and Aberdeen not too far. Several places close for food and needs to buy. James's was great to work with!
Anthony | Carlisle, Pennsylvania | None | 5 | June 2023 | My spouse, myself, & our two teenage daughters spent three lovely nights in the East Wing of Lickleyhead Castle. The well-maintained grounds, period decor, and ideal central location made our time in Aberdeenshire unforgettable. The accommodations were both spacious and intimate - with plenty of places - inside and out - to eat, sip on Scotch, converse, or just to sit and soak in the moment. From the castle we were easily able to hike local landmark, Bennachie, but we also were in the Cairngorms in just under an hour. If we had booked a longer stay we undoubtedly would have popped back into Aberdeen or driven to a coastal town to the north - as both seem like very easy day trips. All four of us agreed that the beds were some of the most comfortable we had encountered in our travels. If you book a stay at Lickleyhead - don’t be alarmed if you never want to leave! Oh, and ask about the ghosts 🙂
