Luxury room in a magical setting with panoramic views of Glencoe, Mull and Loch Linnhe
The space
An impeccably restored Scottish Baronial Manor nestled between the great Ben Nevis and Loch Linnhe affording sweeping views from Glencoe all the way to Isle of Mull and across to Ardnamurchan peninsula.
This unique residence has a special place in the local history so I hope you'll enjoy your time at this 19th century baronial retreat built in the same architectural style as Her Majesty The Queen's favourite retreat at Balmoral Castle.
Redesigned now to accommodate a large family group with all the amenities of a luxury hotel and the comfort of a grand country residence most of the original features have been preserved and stunning new ones have been installed to create lavish marble ensuites with heated floors and new bedrooms out of thin air. Stone cast bathtubs, bronze sinks and sculpted marble pedestals complement exquisite art deco Imperial sanitary and custom made bathroom fittings. The Emperor Suite has a four poster kingsize bed and far reaching seaviews towards Mull. The property enjoys a great deal of privacy from its commanding position on the tip of the headland sat amidst 3 acres of landscaped grounds with its own sunny beach and accessed via private road. You will have privacy as the house is flanked by the sea and by its woodland and with very few neighbours around it truly is a retreat into nature.
The room is fitted with USB sockets, sound speakers, electric blankets and luxurious bedding and towels. You will have a large down filled duvets and different types of pillows to choose from (down & feather, hollow fibre or water pillows). An exquisite antique screen with silk embroidery adorns the room and the bed is flanked by 2 majestic Murano glass lamps with ostrich feather lampshades. Fit for an emperor!
You will have a choice of 2 spectacular bathrooms, both situated across the hall from your room and a third one is always available on the ground floor.
Guest access
During your stay you will have access to the entire ground floor (morning room, dining area, conservatory).
The lounge area in the morning room is the perfect spot to relax or snooze. Large wood-burning fireplaces, make the house truly magical in the wintertime when a giant Christmas tree takes residence. And as much as the Highlands are famous for the magnificent outdoors there is also a time to cosy up in front of a log fire in the TV room.
The house is dog friendly and there is a midweek housekeeping service included free of charge for longer stays.
Continental Breakfast consists of a selection of local produce and homemade treats and preserves to enjoy. Leisure activities can be arranged on site at affordable costs (yoga, fitness, bootcamp, mountain hikes, massages or hairdressing services). Be prepared to be pampered and looked after in our spa or blissfully left to your own devices to enjoy your stay without any interference. But whichever it is, lace up those boots and get walking at least once whilst you’re here! Be it for an epic hike to the summit of Ben Nevis (the highest mountain in the British Isles) or just a stroll into the wilderness nearby (you can walk to the Corran ferry from the house or cross by car and within minutes Ardnamurchan opens up a whole box of surprises for the keen or casual walker). There’s something for everyone and rest assure there’s nothing better than a long soak in the bathtub afterwards or a steaming hot powershower followed by stiff drink in the conservatory. Here you can unwind before dinner watching the sun set on Glencoe and Mull and as serene sunsets compete with thundering storms for your full attention you can probably point by then the peaks you’ve claimed on Ardnamurchan!.
A good steady internet connection throughout the house and nearby so you can be as connected as you wish to be. The house has CCTV in some public areas connected to the security system with Police response.
Other things to note
Fort William is a very short drive away (15 min) for all major supermarkets Marks &Spencer, Morrissons, Aldi & Lidl or 7 min to Co-op in the village towards Glencoe where you can also find a Post Office where you can exchange currency or use the ATM machine.

Private bathrooms, SPA facilities (great steam room) and a great buffet breakfast. Lovely location for walks in Glencoe and very peaceful.

It was a shame the hot tub wasn’t working, that was a big factor in our decision! The food was incredible (get the venison!) and the staff were phenomenal - the male manager was fantastic and went above and beyond for us.
Also lovely that they allow pets.
The sauna and steam room are also very nice. There was a huge storm whilst we stayed so the contrast from walking outdoors to go indoors was magical. The property is right on the sea front so the view is spectacular!
Thanks for everything!

Sandra8 years on AirbnbNone5June 2021This is the most delightful family home where the moment you enter the front door you feel immediately Relaxed and Welcomed
The house is full of the Owners Private Collection of Art Deco antiques and paintings which make for a Very interesting stay
There is soft music playing and you are encouraged to sit and enjoy the views of the Loch where afternoon tea is served on arrival
We stayed in the Emperor Suite which was even more Outstanding with its own adjacent bathroom with a roll top free standing bath, much appreciated after spending our time hiking Sullivan in the highlands
I believe Ardrhu House now offer a 3 Course dinner for £39.95 per person which I wish we had booked previously as it cost us £45 each way for a taxi to a local restaurant, on meeting other guests the next morning they said the food and experience was FANTASTIC
Breakfast was a continental spread with local salmon and fresh eggs, fruits, cheeses and breads, cereals, juices and fresh coffee served at your table..I thoroughly enjoyed 3 courses
During our stay I had booked a massage so we used the Spa facilities first
The outdoor jacuzzi was spectacular with views of the loch, steam and sauna facilities too
My therapist was Very professional and I came away thoroughly relaxed after a full body massage
I can highly recommend a stay at Ardrhu House either on your way to or return from the highlands as a Special Treat..my only regret was that I didn’t stay for 2 nights next time I will !
Ryan10 years on AirbnbNone5September 2020When driving up the road the gorgeous castle like home almost takes your breath away, it on looks the sea loch and my goodness is the sunset beautiful there! Ela and her team were so lovely and helpful, Ela met us and told us how important the cleaning was especially during this time. We felt safe and secure knowing that this place was going to be well cleaned and that was definitely the case.
The home was as beautiful inside as it was outside, on the tour Ela encouraged us to have some tea and cakes which get served in the late afternoon. It’s such a. Nice touch and honestly such a lovely thing to do! When we saw the Jacuzzi and Sauna and steam room it almost took our breath away at how lovely this was! The views are gorgeous and I challenge any luxury hotel that would do it better than this!
From relaxing around the property, exploring the scenic countryside or catching a ferry to the other peninsula it was a more than perfect weekend, so much so that we actually booked another night and changed room, (I would recommend this as you get a different theme) although be sure to remember that you changed room we almost went to the wrong one haha
Even a glass of wine or two in the garden late at night to watch the moon, this was by far the most romantic little retreat I’ve had with my girlfriend. We felt we were living in a fairytale.
Thanks again Ela and team you were so lovely and I hope it’s not a goodbye and rather til next time.

I booked a weekend in Scotland last minute, and Ela was able to accommodate us. She even stayed up late to check us in when our flight was delayed. The house is unlike anything you might find in the area given the spec. Ela has redone the house to have beautiful decor throughout. She was a fantastic host, giving us wonderful recommendations for restaurants and hikes. I can't wait to see what else she does with the property and I will hopefully get to come back sometime soon.ElaJune 2018Thank you Katie, look forward to have you back!
