Lickleyhead Castle is a Grade A listed historic building from the 16th century. It can accommodate up to 16 adults, 2 children and 3 dogs. Despite it's grandeur the castle feels very much like a home with 2 working fireplaces and the smell of woodsmoke which greets you as you climb the stone staircase. Outside, the sound of running water and abundant birdlife combine to provide an atmosphere of peace and calm. We also host weddings.
The space
Each of the bedrooms have been styled to reflect the period of former owners of note. This includes our 16th century box bedroom which has proven to be a great favourite with our guests and the Victorian nursery on the very top floor. The castle grounds which are exciting to explore, extend to 11 acres, with 2 burns (streams), rope swings to discover, not to mention a ruined archway and a bird hide. We are also situated on the lower slopes of Bennachie which of course means plenty of wonderful walks from the doorstep.

We are now hosting weddings of up to 30 people at Lickleyhead Castle! We specialise in destination weddings, elopements and vow renewals, though any wedding type will be accommodated. Please note, prices on Airbnb are for holiday rentals. Please contact us for a quote regarding weddings here.
Catering- Please note that we as the venue ask for a small fee (£30) if you bring in caterers due to the administrative burden of food safety requirements and to provide facilities for the caterers beyond those necessary for self-catering.
There may be an additional fee if you bring outside guests in. Please enquire with numbers and intentions for a quote.

Beautifully decorated with so much thought put into every room. The whole estate is gorgeous and we had some lovely walks around all of the outside features that just enhance the gardens. We had arranged through the host some activities and these were amazing and enjoyed by everyone. It’s astonishing how clean the whole castle was for such a big place. Would definitely recommend the castle to any groups that want a beautiful setting, gorgeous gardens and a relaxing but enjoyable stay | |||

I’m unsure where to start, the castle was absolutely enchanting.. the setting/gardens were beautiful in all their Autumnal glory with little hidden treasures around every corner! The kitchen area was so cosy for gathering round the large table .. perfect for bringing everyone together …each and every couple loved their allocated, and tastefully decorated bedroom, each one in keeping with the castle … the little extras, pool table, dressing up box, piano, chapel and even down to the little touches like a bottle of radox in the multiple bathrooms !! Amazing I would definitely recommend a visit to this magical place and we will certainly be back | |||

We were a group for a friends reunion and birthday celebrations for 5 nights and could not have been more happy with our lodging choice. Truly a special experience. James has put such nice work into the building and adding so many fun details including history stories in each room. We loved hanging out in the great hall and having fires every night with our evening drams. the area is beautiful too. would highly recommend! They were on site to check us in and give us a tour of the castle and would be around if there were any issues. The place itself has such character and you felt right at home. Kitchen is great with lots of equipment, can easily host large numbers for a dinner. Rooms were beautifully decorated and each was unique. Bathrooms were clean and tidy. Highly recommend a stay here with friends or family if you a looking to do something a bit different. | |||

The details, the decor, the magic, it was a very special experience for our group to stay here. The bedrooms were comfortable. Plenty of space for us to relax and enjoy. We made good use of the fireplace in the main room. The grounds were beautiful to walk around in. Easy communication with James. Managed to get food shopping delivered to us to cook in the large kitchen. We’d definitely love to come again & would recommend it to anyone who wants to have an authentic experience in a loved historical place. The castle gave us everything we could have asked for. Beautiful grounds, stunning rooms,so much to explore and learn about Lickleyhead. It was spacious and cozy all at once. I think we will all be talking about our visit for a long time. |
