The property is well maintained, the staff friendly and discreet. For breakfast we were allowed to take the dogs with us, which was very nice! Breakfast was sufficient and varied, but there was no hot food such as bacilon, egg or beans. Unfortunately, the restaurant was not open every day in the evening. So if you're not in the tower room bay, don't expect anything else. We had a room in the back wing, to the garden. The room was simple and clean Unfortunately, it always smelled a little old and modrich, certainly because of the partially damp walls. The bed was huge, the mattress a little too hard for us. The old furniture was well-maintained. But there was no fridge in the room. The house had a lot of charm and there was something interesting to discover everywhere! overall we had a very nice stay, thanks! | |||

Also the towel warmers were burning hot and dangerous. | |||

The hotel is dated but has a unique charm to it that we thoroughly enjoyed. The original room we were placed in was disappointing in that the double bed we were promised was two twins pushed together, however staff were quick to accommodate and we were moved without any issue. The staff and the food was fantastic, dinner was so tasty and reasonably priced and the breakfast was fantastic! You’re only a 5-10 minute walk into town and it’s a great location for the glenmorangie distillery as you can walk it, meaning no nominated driver has to miss out on the tasting! Overall it was a shame we couldn’t stay at the castle we booked and I can imagine some people would be annoyed by this, but we were flexible and it didn’t put a downer on the holiday at all. | |||

This hotel was an amazing old place. We were quite happy with our stay there. I imagine John was the gentleman who visited with us at breakfast. Very friendly. | |||

We had dinner at the pub and it was very good. In fact, it was the best breakfast I have had in Scotland, much better than at Atholl Palace Hotel. The grounds were also pretty and it is a nice walk into Tain which is also a beautiful historic town. |
