My 6 grandchildren loved it, playing hide and seek, ghost hunting, hot tub after breakfast. Out walking by the shore and climbing mountains (wee hills and cliff faces). sword fighting in the grounds and spotting the deer and pheasants then ending the day cosying up by the open fire with hot choc and board games. The Beds are super comfy. Rooms are all very spacious and well equipped. Everyone including the dogs had the best Xmas | |||

The Castle and grounds are even more impressive in real life. I enjoyed a fabulous weekend at Colliston with family and friends. The kitchen was well stocked and all the bedrooms, dining and sitting rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The house is very large and there are a few stairs to climb to get to the top floor. The gardens are beautiful and the wood fired hot tub was a new experience! We had a superb stay and I would highly recommend. | |||

Massive thumbs up to both of you. So to the stay, there were 9 of us for 4 days and a private chef for 1 day and we were never in each others way. The inside of the castle is amazing, especially if you want to be reminded of the history of the castle. We did use the wood burning hottub and the sauna. Every one of the party came away with a smile on their faces as we just had the best time ever, made possible by the space available. We could be as one group or totally on our own. WONDERFUL John was ever helpful when needed and not there the rest of the time. Anyone that stays here should understand it is a castle that the owners let you freely use. It is not a 5star hotel and thank goodness it’s not. Our private chef made the birthday girl very happy with fresh fish caught that morning off the coast of Scotland. John and Sue were terrific and the castle is simply stunning! The facilities inside the castle are amazing - so much amenity and all available. The kids played as knights and the outside areas are beautiful - great walks for the adults and space for kids. We enjoyed a bountiful meal cooked in the aga and served in the magnificent dining room. Cannot rate this place highly enough | |||

If you’re here & browsing reviews….. just get your booking in place already (!) you will not be disappointed!! It is a HUGE building, steeped in history, and John & Sue have made it into a wonderful rental: plenty of creature comforts (& some lovely modern touches like the wood fired hot tub and electric sauna) but mostly you are always aware of how historic and large the place is: 2 grand staircases up and down the building, 2 massive living rooms, a couple of ‘snugs’, a huge kitchen and 2 eating areas either side of the amazing kitchen means you are spoilt for choice in how to spend you time here. The grounds are also sublime: some truly beautiful trees amongst the acres of grounds surrounding the castle, & John and Sue are evidently v green fingered with many lovely flower gardens around the castle too. | |||
