Northcourt is a Grade II-listed Jacobean manor house on the edge of the picturesque village of Shorwell on the Isle of Wight. The ‘north wing’ of the manor provides accommodation for up to 16 people (in 9 bedrooms with 8 bathrooms). At this moment in time, in accordance with Airbnb's Party and Event's Policy, parties are not permitted at the property.
The space
The property is conveniently situated in rural south-west Wight, close to beaches with easy access to many of the Islands attractions and wonderful walking up on the Downs. Furnished in a traditional style with modern conveniences, the ‘north wing’ of the manor provides accommodation for up to 16 people (in 9 bedrooms with 8 bathrooms), with grand, often regal rooms on the ground and first floor, with further quality accommodation on the second floor. The house benefits from a large kitchen, external dining terrace, and function room with grand piano and table tennis.
Guest access
This listing is specifically related to the north wing of the manor which is accessed off the drive at the front of the house. Guests will have private use of the north wing.
Other things to note
The house and kitchens are perfect for celebratory dinner parties and we can pass on details of local caterers and their teams to entertain you. We will happily recommend a variety of local activities and attractions to interest all manner of guests making your stay on the Island even more enjoyable. We are able to offer discounted ferry travel booked through our trade account on crossings from Southampton, Portsmouth or Yarmouth.
We can help organise deliveries of bread and pastries, meat, fish, fruit and vegetables all fresh from local growers/retailers as well as daily newspapers from our village shop.
We work with a local spa company who can offer on site treatments.
Hot tubs can be hired from a local supplier.
The Crown Inn located within 5 minutes walk through the garden is a welcome distraction for those wanting to have a night off cooking, or fancy a pint of local Goddards ale.
The property includes a baby-grand piano, table tennis table and a number of smart TV’s with Netflix, and bluetooth speaker with CD player/DAB radio. A grass tennis court is available for use at certain times of the day (if dry enough between May - September). High speed fibre broadband is available via wi-fi in large parts of the house.
Linen is provided throughout the property, with fresh bed sheets, bath towels and hand towels. The fires are pre-laid with paper, kindling and logs, with a complimentary basket of logs provided for guests (mid October – mid-May).
Our new biomass boiler provides central heating throughout making the house wonderfully cosy.

Marina7 years on AirbnbNone3January 2023-JamesFebruary 2023In response to the points raised, as described in the listing, the property is indeed located in rural Isle of Wight, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is partly what makes the property so special: being able to escape, enjoy the outdoors and soak up the peace and tranquillity. We also make it evidently clear that the property is not a loud party house and these types of gatherings are not welcome – this was never a new rule. Indeed, Airbnb has a policy that bans parties in any of its properties (see the Community and Disturbance Policy). The property is entirely private and self-contained but is adjoined by two separate wings of the manor (one also listed on Airbnb and the other as a private house where members of the family live) ¬– again, this is described in the listing. Marina clearly failed to look at the property description in any detail or do any research about the location when she chose to book for her party with friends, and failed to abide by not only our house rules but the ground rules expected by all Airbnb guests (cleanliness, damage, noise etc). She also failed to communicate any of the ‘issues’ that she has highlighted here, which we assume have only been posted as we requested reimbursement for extra cleaning and damages.

The house has large bedrooms with extremely comfortable beds and on-suite bathrooms. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed.
