There is no lighting at rear of building. Very dangerous particularly if loading in an evening Toilet on top floor blocked up a few times. Had to wash cups and glasses, when we arrived as all smeary. Ovens not working properly. A bit hit and miss with gas rings, sometimes not able to control them. Although layout is superb some of the carpets are threadbare and need replacing. Needs a good re-furb to get it to the standard the building and grounds deserve. All in all we really enjoyed our stay in this historic building. Maybe a booklet giving information on the history and the area.

Simply awesome.

David7 years on AirbnbNone4August 2024Historic quirky building.
Huge spaces - we didn't make use of lounge or games room with so much room to socialise in kitchen.
It is old (very) and fixtures and fittings are not all super modern but everything worked. Beds mainly quite old in keeping with character of place.
Kitchen well equipped enough to make a big meal for large group. Make sure to bring extras - eg salt, pepper, dishwasher tablets, coffee makers.
Location brilliant for us and the ongoing wedding reception in the hotel had no impact on us at all (the walls are thick.....!)
Simon6 years on AirbnbNone5August 2024Irton Hall is a fantastic place to stay. We were in Pele Tower, which is full of character. We enjoyed the pool table and table football, and even a brief tryout of the harmonium/organ by one of our musicians.

James10 years on AirbnbNone5July 2024Lovely location and incredible place to stay. Being in the Lakes you feel like you need to get up into the mountains but there's a dozen walks nearby that would suit the less mobile. Great building and the staircase to the one top bedroom is only suitable for older children/adults. Lots of history around you! Ended up there was only 8 of us bouncing around in all that space so we were extra fortunate and enjoyed the big tv viewing area for the Euro finals. Helpful to have EV charger on site when exploring the Lakes as you could top up. At one point, one car seemed to be hogging it and parked there even when not charging but a chat with reception soon resolved that. The only real criticism I could think of was that they would only give us one key for the whole party which became an inconvenience even though so few of us. Apart from that would happily return. Good boozers for us (for food and beer) were Bower House Inn, Strands Inn and The Boot Inn - need to drive to each, best to book.
Ross8 years on AirbnbNone4June 2024Very good accommodation, only thing which was a bit misleading from the description access to the hotel bar and restaurant is only available when there isn’t a wedding on. Unfortunately when we went there was a wedding on. With it being such a nice venue / location I can imagine most of the time there would be one so don’t bank on using these facilities. Luckily there was a pub very near by called the bridge inn which we managed to get in at short notice.
