Princess Elizabeth Cottage is a charming and carefully restored, 2-bedroom cottage that sleeps 4 guests in 1 king size double room and 1 twin room, with 1 family bathroom. The cottage is a semi-detached (alongside Lady Jane Grey), two storey property with a fully-equipped modern kitchen and a spacious living and dining area that leads out to a private courtyard with seating. Upstairs are two comfortable and well-appointed bedrooms and a modern bathroom with a fixed shower over a bathtub.
The space
Named after Princess Elizabeth, who visited the castle on several occasions and who would later in her life become the infamous Queen Elizabeth I of England, this lovely cottage was originally part of a paper mill, which was restored to make two cottages (Lady Jane Grey and Princess Elizabeth) and two apartments (St Kenelm and Oliver Cromwell), preserving the original exposed walls and beams throughout. (St Kenelm sits directly above Princess Elizabeth and Oliver Cromwell sits directly above Lady Jane Grey.)
The accommodation is arranged over two floors. Guests enter from a covered porch into a small hallway, with handy coat hooks, and pass-through to an open-plan and a very well-equipped kitchen with under stairs storage (baby and cleaning equipment). The kitchen windows look out onto the private courtyard.
Off the kitchen, and down three stairs, is the dining area with a large oak table, comfortably seating 4 guests. At the end of this large open plan, space is the living area, which leads out to the private courtyard.
Upstairs (via a carpeted staircase with handrail) there is one double bedroom a king-size bed and one spacious twin bedroom, as well as a family bathroom with a full-size bath and over-bath shower.
Situated just a short walk from the beautiful Cotswold town of Winchcombe, guests will be spoiled for choice when it comes to things to do and see and places to eat while staying at one of Sudeley’s cottages! See Local Amenities or the Winchcombe guidebook for more information.

Unlimited access to the castle was a bonus. Both Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle are well worth a visit. Many walks from your doorstep so you don't need to use your car. Cafes, restaurants, pubs and takeaways available in the town.
Accommodation very clean, and well equipped. Bolthole Retreats were very helpful when I had a query. Safe and roomy parking.
Can highly recommend.

The included entry to Sudeley Castle was an absolute highlight. We had a wonderful day exploring the grounds and history.
Thanks again, totally recommend this lovely place.
Anne11 years on AirbnbNone5October 2021We had such a fantastic stay in this beautiful cottage just a short walk from Winchcombe centre. It was a great location for exploring the Cotswolds, would definitely recommend to stay here.
Debbie4 years on AirbnbNone3September 2021Beautiful location, grounds and the castle are lovely. The cottage estate is very picturesque. Good location to explore the cotswolds. As in other reviews you can hear the flat above which didn’t bother us but might be a problem if you’re looking for peace and quiet.
Michelle9 years on AirbnbNone5August 2021A lovely sweet cottage - small and wonderful but definitely big enough for our family of 4.. a perfect place to see cotswalds and some wonderful walks from the front door. We loved it.
Anne9 years on AirbnbNone5July 2021The cottage is perfectly situated for exploring the delightful town of Winchcombe and touring the wider Cotswolds. You don't need to venture far to be in beautiful countryside; there are walks from the door and Sudeley Castle is a must (especially with the free entry included with the booking). The cottage itself is well appointed and includes a welcome tray and lovely toiletries. Thoroughly recommended.
Sophie6 years on AirbnbNone5June 2021First trip away with our 1 year old and couldn’t have been more perfect. Travel cot & high chair provided all great. More than enough room in the second bedroom for the cot. Property on the whole felt so clean & looked after and the kitchen was beautiful and well equipped. Location was lovely, the courtyard the properties are set in is so picturesque. Path up the road only 5 minutes walk to nearest pubs, restaurants & shops. Parking is great round the back making pushchair in and out the car and into the property easy. Thank you for a lovely first staycation.
