Overview

Carlowrie Castle is one of Scotland's most impressive exclusive-use venues, a stunning Scottish baronial castle set in 32 acres of private grounds just twenty-five minutes from Edinburgh city centre and fifteen minutes from Edinburgh Airport. Built in 1852 for the Hutchison family, the castle has been transformed into a luxury venue that accommodates up to 30 overnight guests and hosts events for up to 200, all while retaining the warmth and character of a grand Scottish country house. The castle's interiors are a masterclass in refined elegance. The Great Hall, with its soaring ceiling, minstrels' gallery, and grand stone fireplace, provides a breathtaking centrepiece for celebrations. Surrounding it are a series of beautifully appointed rooms including a drawing room, library, and formal dining room, each decorated with period furniture, fine artworks, and luxurious fabrics. The 14 bedrooms range from the magnificent master suite, with its four-poster bed and views over the estate, to charming smaller rooms, each individually styled. Outside, the 32 acres of grounds encompass manicured lawns, ancient woodland, a walled garden, and a private chapel — perfect for outdoor ceremonies and celebrations. The estate's events team is renowned for creating bespoke, memorable experiences, from elaborate Scottish-themed celebrations to intimate family gatherings. The castle's location is strategically perfect: close enough to Edinburgh for guests to enjoy Scotland's capital, yet sufficiently secluded for complete privacy. The historic Royal Burgh of Linlithgow, with its magnificent ruined palace (birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots), is just fifteen minutes away, while the Forth Bridges and charming town of South Queensferry are even closer. Whether hosting a grand Scottish wedding, a corporate retreat, or a milestone celebration, Carlowrie Castle offers exclusivity, luxury, and an unforgettable setting.

It has since won numerous awards as one of Scotland's finest wedding and events venues.
