Overview
Dundas Castle is one of Scotland's most prestigious exclusive-use castle estates, set in over 100 acres of private grounds just twenty minutes from the heart of Edinburgh. Combining a magnificent 15th-century keep with a grand Victorian mansion, Dundas offers the rare opportunity to take over an entire castle estate for your wedding, celebration, or corporate gathering, with accommodation for up to 40 guests and event spaces capable of hosting up to 200. The castle's interiors are breathtaking. The Auld Keep, dating from 1416, houses the castle's most atmospheric spaces, including the medieval great hall with its massive stone fireplace and barrel-vaulted ceiling. The Victorian wing, added in the 19th century, provides more formal reception rooms, including an elegant drawing room, a panelled dining room, and a stately staircase that is a photographer's dream. The 18 bedrooms range from grand master suites in the main castle to comfortable rooms in the converted courtyard buildings. Dundas Castle's grounds are equally impressive. A private loch with a charming boathouse provides a romantic backdrop for photographs and quiet contemplation, while the extensive gardens, woodlands, and parkland offer space for outdoor activities, marquee events, and games. The dedicated events team works closely with each group to create bespoke experiences, from Highland Games and whisky tastings to fireworks displays and ceilidh dancing. The castle's proximity to Edinburgh makes it uniquely versatile. Guests can enjoy the cultural riches of Scotland's capital — world-class museums, the Edinburgh Festival, Michelin-starred restaurants — while returning each evening to the privacy and grandeur of their own castle. The iconic Forth Rail Bridge and the historic town of South Queensferry are just ten minutes away, adding even more options for exploration and photography.

Castle History
Dundas Castle's oldest section, the Auld Keep, was built in 1416 by Sir Archibald Dundas. The castle has been continuously owned by the Dundas family for over 600 years. The Victorian mansion was added in 1818 by architect William Burn. Today, the castle is managed by Sir Jack Stewart-Clark and his family, who opened the estate for exclusive-use events while maintaining its heritage and family connection.
